How Does This Church Involve Itself in Missions?
Cooperative Program Missions Giving
In partnership with thousands of other Southern Baptist Churches in Arkansas and across the world, we support one of the largest efforts in making disciples of all the nations by financial giving and prayer support through the Cooperative Program. The Cooperative Program allows us to support the work of Arkansas Baptists in our state (www.absc.org), and also the spread of the gospel in our own country through the Southern Baptist Convention (www.sbc.net) and North American Mission Board (www.namb.net) and in the world through the International Mission Board (www.imb.org).
How Does it Work?
As Christians and churches we can do far more together with one another than we ever can apart from each other. When you give an offering at First Baptist Church Walnut Ridge, 12% of your undesignated financial gift is sent to the Arkansas Baptist State Convention office in Little Rock and then is promptly distributed to ministry work in the Arkansas Baptist State Convention, Southern Baptist Convention, North American Mission Board, and International Mission Board.
Special Missions Offerings
In addition to our regular missions giving, our church emphasizes three missions offerings throughout the year. In each of these offerings 100% of contributions go directly to support ministry and missionaries. These offerings are named in honor of three outstanding Baptist women who served the Lord and promoted the spread of the gospel in our state, nation, and world. The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering in March-April helps spread the gospel through the North American Mission Board; the Dixie Jackson Offering in September supports the work of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention; and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering in November-December funds missionaries serving through the International Mission Board.
